George RR Martin has beed hailed as the American Tolkien. This set is scarce since it does not only contain all of the Subterranean Press books as a same number set, but also features the two early Meisha Merlin books with the same number.
Subterranean Press has started to produce the books beginning with the first volume, A Game of Thrones. A note on the publication history: Meisha Merlin started to produce The Song of Ice and Fire as a limited edition but went out of business after the publication of A Clash of Kings, the second volume in the saga.
